Rebuilding Faces, Mending Smiles; The Life Changing Work Of Project Harar

Trinity PR is proud to be working with Project Harar to raise awareness of its latest medical mission to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia next week (19^th April).  The trip, led by Maxillofacial Surgeon, Professor Mark McGurk, which will provide life changing treatment, as well as pre and post-operative care for around 50 patients with complex facial deformities.

The international team of 13 medics, including British NHS staff, French, Dutch and Saudi Arabian healthcare professionals from a cross section of disciplines will work closely with local health representatives on the ground.

Surgery not only changes someone’s physical appearance but it provides them with a whole new lease of life in terms of their acceptance into the local community, their marriage prospects, as well as their ability to pursue education and ultimately find a job.

As well as hands-on surgical help, the medical team travelling to the region will also provide training and presentations for the local doctors and nurses in order to enhance their skills and ability to carry out more complex facial operations in the future. The disabilities they will be treating include; noma (a gangrenous disease leading to tissue destruction of the face, especially the mouth and cheek), tumours, animal attacks, cleft lip and cleft palate.
