Mr Daniel Ezra, Consultant Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic Surgeon, specialising in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the areas around the eyes, based at Moorfields Eye Hospital and 9 Harley Street comments on GMC new guidelines to regulate the cosmetic industry:    

“This is a wholly welcome step by the GMC to ensure that patient safety is put first by everyone in the cosmetic industry. Patients should only choose to embark on any procedure following consultation and advice from a qualified, registered medical professional, who provides follow-up care as standard. It is also vital that patients seek treatment from a medical professional with a surgical specialism (e.g. eye, breast, rhinoplasty) to ensure the procedure is performed safely and with absolute precision and expertise.  We have a huge pool of talented and highly skilled cosmetic surgeons in the UK and patients need to be reassured of this.”
